Jed needed to come out on top against one of the form teams in our league, GHA came to Riverside undefeated in the league and looking for a Border scalp to maintain the pressure on league leaders Selkirk.
Both teams exchanged penalties after 20 minutes, Jericevich for the visitors then Donald Grieve for the home team converting the points. Play began to open up and after a mistake by the Jed defence visiting full back Gillman kicked ahead to score an opportunist try easily converted by Jericevich after 25 minutes, this was quickly followed by a try for the home side when Harkness pounced on a handling mistake by GHA and after passing through several hands Ryan Gibson powered over for a try which was again converted by Grieve, Half time score 10 – 10
The second half began with GHA pounding at the home line however the Jed defence held strong and it was after a rare visit into the visitors half Jed were awarded a line out near the visitors line which was driven over to allow scrum half Richie to score the try, conversion by Grieve, for the remaining 15 minutes GHA again pounded the Jed line but helped by the strong vocal support from the home crowed the defence held well until the 40th minute when GHA kicked another penalty by their scrum half Jericevich, the game then went into overtime and during the 8 minutes of injury time GHA were awarded three kickable penalties but elected to go for the try, this ploy may have won them previous games however it was not to be today, the Jed defence held on to claim a superb victory.  Final score Jed 17 – GHA 13
