Jed-Forest 10 - 6 Watsonians
Both teams tried their best to entertain the decent sized Christmas crowd but Jed were slow off the mark with the visitors attacking the Jed line at every opportunity. Jed conceded an early penalty converted by scrum half Walls after 8 minutes. The home side worked hard to get into the match and after some excellent forward play in the visitors 22 prop Mat Meek was rewarded with the try which was to far out for new stand off Kraft to convert. Play moved from end to end with both teams willing to run at their opposition at every chance. After 31 minutes it was Walls again converting a penalty for his side to take the lead. However on the stroke of half time Jed used a penalty to kick for territory. We won the line-out, then after some superb handling late replacement Miller scored in the corner to make the half time score 10 – 6.`
The second half was for the rugby purist with no scores but still entertaining in the way Watsonians continued to attack the home line and the way Jed turned defence into attack. Final score 10 - 6 to Jed.
This was a much needed win as the teams around us in the league also won. Director of rugby Ali Campbell was delighted, saying "Well played today boys. Great performance from 1-20. Can't beat playing wi a bit of Jethart heart and the crowd was superb"
Robbie Shirra-Gibb was named man of the match on his debut. We now look forward to Hawick on boxing day then Hillhead Jordanhill on the first Saturday in the new year both games at Riverside.
